A 30+ year Vampire Chronicle

If you have stumbled upon this page you may be wondering, "What the hell is all this?" Well my friends, you have found a story that I have been writing for the last 30+ years. In fact, it all started in 1991 and the following pages are a detailed account of a role playing game (RPG) called Vampire: The Masquerade (VTM for short). The initial campaign ran for over a decade (1991- 2003) and was based in the city of San Francisco. There were several players that came and went but the core members were: Eli, Callan, Jeff, Misti, Stacey, Joe and Dan.

I continued to write in my spare time, even when there were no sessions or the years went by without any gaming. Then in 2022, the stars aligned and I was able to resurrect the old stories. Together with my good friends/players Alex and Jason and also reconnecting with Eli once again, I was able to reintroduce them to my Vampiric World of Darkness. With over 2 decades of material since I last played , I reset the campaign.

On a cold winter day in 2022, I took up the mantle once again as storyteller and introduced Alex, Jason and Eli to Rebirth: A Chaos Chronicle. It is set in San Francisco once again but the year is 2023.

What follows is a living document of my world of darkness. I will continue to add more information as time goes by but in the meantime, you can read where this chronicle is going and enjoy some of the troubles these guys get into.

the PLAYERS: Who's who

Eli: Playing Maxwell Knight, an 8th generation Brujah who owns Knight Security, one of the largest and most successful personal protection companies in San Francisco. Max is confident, intelligent and quicker to anger than most. Prior to owning his company, he was an Army Ranger, serving 4 tours in the Middle East.

Jason: playing Valmount Ventillion, a 10th generation Toreador who once owned one of the most well known wine companies on the West Coast. Vallmont is obsessive with many eccentricities. He struggles with memory loss and hears the dead from time to time. Probably the foremost expert in wine making on the planet, Valmont is calculating and wise beyond his years. Oddly enough, he is more Malkavian than Toreador.

Alex: playing Ban Strahd ,an 8th generation Tremere who was a doctor of hematology before the Embrace. Now an extremely adept magic user, Ban is equally skilled in the art of kenjitsu. Ban is a master manipulator with a rebel nature. Not wanting to serve but ultimately rule, he is one deadly vampire.

THE BEGINNING

The Backstory

In 1906, a Ventrue named Nathan Kent assumed control of the city of San Francisco when the previous Prince (Cerrano), who abandoned it after the Great Earthquake. Relative peace reigned for nearly 100 years under Prince Kent.

Kent built the city up from nothing. The majority of the Camarilla thought San Francisco would never amount to anything. But with powerful leadership and a knack for business, Prince Kent was able to make San Francisco a force to be reckoned with.

The city attracted every clan of kindred imaginable. With that growth and prosperity also came greed and power struggles. By 1980, a new influx of neonates set their eyes on the city and became soon became pawns of older kindred. This conflict began to slowly build and Prince Kent was challenged by many during the decade of excess. However, the enemies of Prince Kent underestimated his power and intelligence.

Prince Kent was able to defeat all who opposed him, cementing himself as a true force the vampire world by the end of the 80s. However in 1998, Prince Kent fell when numerous factions joined forces, finally deposing and killing him in August of that year.

Many kindred meet their final death during the Purge. Without rule of law and Prince Kent's watchful eye, San Francisco spiralled into a CHAOTIC blood bath for over a year and a half. That is until a powerful Kindred name Ambrogino Giovanni arrived on a cold winter day in 2000.

Giovanni was a legendary figure who made the city his own.

NO NEW VAMPIRES: THIS IS LAW

Prince Giovanni declared himself Prince in 2000 and almost immediately after taking power, ruled that NO KINDRED were allowed to sire new blood. As Prince Giovanni stated :

"The strife that San Francisco endured under the former Prince shall be undone. This city suffered. Many kindred died as the result of power and blindness that remained unchecked. This stops now. We need to rebuild and we need to prosper. As such, I declare no kine shall be embraced moving forward. We need order and need to establish our power. New Kindred unbalance this power so this is the first step."
