PART 4: Who is pulling the strings?

Welcome to Part Four

A month has past since the battle of Golden Gate Park where the Sabbat where defeated and sent scattered to the winds. An alliance between the Prince's Primogen, Justicar Kent and the newly resurrected Dean Hawkes crushed the Sabbat war party. With the Sabbat on their heels (for now), what will San Fransisco look like moving forward?

CHAPTER 21: It's ANCIENT HISTORY..

Chapter 21:It's Ancient History

(Game Session Nov 17 2023) (Game Date is April 30 2024)

  • The players made it back to their Elysium and spoke with Father Trout ( who awoke from torpor after over a year!) about a secret that Vanguard was in fact buried under the FANG Hq (now destroyed). The players decided to go to the city meeting FIRST however. They plan to investigate the ruins of the building to see if they can find Vanguard's remains.
  • The players are visited by Cliff McClosky, an old kindred with a distinguished appearance. He has a deep raspy voice and tells the PCs about Cerrano. McClosky reveals that he is part of an organization that operates outside the Sabbat and Camarilla (like the Inconnu?) and that he has seen kindred manipulated for far too long. He states that Cerrano  is pulling the strings, similar to what Helena and Menilaus do in Chicago. 
  • Cerrano is an ancient Tremere with vast power. There is a book within the Tremere chantry library which speaks of him. 
  • McClosky also speaks of a Tremere who was exiled from the Chantry some 30 years ago for seeking forbidden knowledge. This Tremere was Greg Miles who became the "Brujah" Ernest “Ernie” Bould.
  • Players go to the city wide meeting held by the Primogen where the following is discussed or mentioned:
  • Felicia calls in her boon with Max and wants him to personally kill Hannibal, the Sabbat black hand member who dominated Trina and got her killed. Max gave his blood oath to complete the task.
  • Prince Ambrogino calls a blood hunt on Peter Takin, the former Malkavian primogen member, for betraying the Camarilla. Peter is added to the RED LIST, or the camarilla's most wanted.
  • Nathan Kent and the Archons have gone back to Europe to be at the Conclave meeting. His status as justicar is unknown.
  • NO trace of lupines whatsoever.
  • the 4 horsemen are also in the wind.
  • Player's receive another status point in San Fran (level 2 now).
  • Max and Jarvis agree to swap disciplines (Fortitude and potency.)
  • Valmont and Dean speak. Dean agrees to help Valmont in his pursuit of necromancy.
  • Lazo and Ban speak and their bond becomes closer.
  • At the end of the Primogen meeting, a Jiang Shi  named  Donald Li approaches the kindred there and states that they have captured two Sabbat members: Kernon Spector (Sabbat muscle) and Sandor (Fabian Bullard assoc). They will not release the sabbath members but will allow 4 kindred to see them. The players and Jarvis are chosen by the prince to investigate. Note: No kindred have been in China town since 1997! What mysteries await?
  • Valmont learns that Fabian Bullard lives in San Jose now. Valmont plans to reach out to the prince there, Manfred Sheffield.



CHAPTER 22: Big Trouble in...

Chapter 22: Big Trouble in Little China

(Game Session Dev 15 2023) (Game Date is May 2  2024)

  • The Players decide to investigate the ruins of the FANG HQ at Pier 22 1/2. They go there to search for the body of Vanguard.
  • Max, Valmont, Ban and Jarvis park outside of the building and note a lone security guard walking the perimeter of the fenced off remains of the building. Valmont uses his Auspex and noted an obfuscated Nosferatu who was also seeming guarding the site.
  • The Players make their way to the back side of the building and enter the rubble. While inside, they find a collapsed pool table that has exposed a room underneath the building. Ban uses a ritual to locate magic and he notes that there is magical energy coming from the basement.
  •  They lower themselves down into the room which is damp and rotting. Inside the room there are numerous rats and a coffin propped against the wall.  They open the coffin and it reveals a figure wrapped in black cloth.
  • They unwrap the face anti reveals a burnt and charred kindred that they assume is Vanguard. The kindred is in Torpor. 
  • Max takes the opportunity to snap of the pinky bone of the kindred and places that bone in his pocket. Max explains that he needs it to help him get rid of his dark fate (along with blood of a methuselah and ash from a jade dragon).
  • Valmont continues to use his aspen and heightened senses and hears the Nosferatu guard walking in the rubble above them.
  • The player find an exit door in the room and open it. There they find a way out of the room but also discover a cloth bag with 17 black stones in them.
  • The players place the body of Vanguard and the pouch with stones in their  bag of holding.  Max discovers a black dagger in the coffin and keeps it.
  • They players leave the ruins and make their way back to their car.
  • The Players then drive immediately to the entrance of china town where Didi Giovanni is waiting for them. Didi invites the players to follow her across the street into a 6 storey building. The players make their way up to the 4th floor where they meet Prince Ambrogino standing in front of window that over looks china town.
  • The Prince explains that he wants to players to confirm that the the Jiang Shi have two meners of the Sabbat (Sandor and Kirnon Jace). The Prince explains that they must be very careful and try to get in and out of China town without causing a stir.
  • Our heroes enter China town and are escorted to a building where they meet Donald Li, who tells them that they must deposit their weapons in a safe before going deeper into China town. They do so.
  • The players make their way to the White Tiger brothel where they meet Lin Hong. She has a man named Mr Go take them deep underground where they are left in a room with a one way mirror. There, they see Sandor and Jace bound and gagged. Sandor uses his telepathy on Valmont and says the Jiang Shi are looking to take the players prisoners as well. Sandor then dominates Ban to have him use his movement of mind to remove his gag. Ban fails his roll and cannot remove the gag. The players are then lead out of the room and they leave . 
  • However, they walk up a staircase and it keeps going and going. They realize its a highly sophisticated chemistry illusion.
  • Valmont somehow wakes up from the illusion and sees that all four of them are lying on a floor somewhere deep inside the white tiger. Eventually Valmont wakes Ban but cannot wake Max or Jarvis. 
  • Valmont places Max and Jarvis in the bag of holding and then he and Ban kill several Chinese henchmen. Valmont discovers the power of the BITE!
  • After dispatching 5 henchmen (with more running towards them), Valmont and Ban run toward a mirror in the room they are in. Valmont discovers that he can walk through it. They do so!
  • Valmont and Ban wake up in the high desert somewhere next to a rocky formation. They release Max and Jarvis from the bag of holding. The players then walk about 30 minutes through the open desert toward the smell of "cooking bacon". 
  • The players run across two men who have made camp next to a fire. They have sleeping rolls and two horses nearby. Jarvis and Max speak with the men and the men ask " are you from Carson City?"
  • After a few minutes, the players realize that they have somehow been transported to the OLD WEST in Nevada, around 1870!
  • Max uses his Presence discipline to get the men to give up their horses. The players then ride 3 hours to Carson City.
  • The players ride past a sign that says "WELCOME TO CARSON CITY" and ride down the street, entering the old west town!!!!

CHAPTER 23: welcome to boothill

Chapter 23: Welcome to BootHill

(Game Session Dec 22 2023) (Game Date is Dec 22 1870). Alex last session.

  • Welcome to the WILD WEST. The players have been transported back to Carson City, NV via a magic mirror in China Town. 
  • The Players, Valmont, Max, Ban and Jarvis (aka Pat Garrett) shack up in an old run down hotel/bar in the middle of town. Each player is able to feed and rob a few citizens to gather about 70$ in total. This money covers the hotel room and new clothing for the pack.
  • Max is able to use his presence to get a man named Lester Jenkins to give up his life savings ($200) which helps the group further.  Lester works for the city in some fashion.
  • During their first night(day) someone tries to get into their room but Max and Jarvis wake up and tell the would be thief to get lost.
  • The next day, the group walks across the street to Mooney Prince Bridge Hotel, which is a higher class bar and hotel (and brothel). While there, Valmont engages in a high stake poker game and uses his Auspex powers to win the game. 
  • During the game, Valmont wins a deed/stake to a silver mine 3 miles outside of town.
  • The players are approached by Amelia Crimson , a beautiful and highly astute vampire who is able to (with ease) tell when the players are lying. She calls out the players for their half truths but is friendly nonetheless. 
  • The players ask if there is a Prince and Amelia says no but warns them that they cannot cause any trouble in town. She also warns them about the Wendigo (Lupines) that roam  the high deserts at night.
  • The players gather supplies over the next week including two horses, a wagon, some guns and make 4 ghouls to help them during the day.
  • The players then head out to the mine on Jan 3 1871 to investigate.
  • The players travel about 1 hour and locate the mine. After unlocking several doors and walking about 70 feet underground, they find that this is an old silver mine (they discover a vein of silver running through the rock). They deduce that this was a natural defense against any lupines who would come snooping-making it a perfect hideout.
  • Max uses his great strength to break down a wall where they find an old room with a few old tools and a stone coffin.
  • Ban discovers that the coffin has ward vs kindred and ghouls on it and when they open the top, they find the wards on the underside of the lid as well-as if someone wanted to keep a kindred inside. 
  • Within  the coffin is a old well preserved vampire who has a Tremere broach around his neck. The vampire does not look like he is in topper but is no  awake. 
  • Max starts to riffle through the pockets of the old vampire which causes Ban to become upset as Ban sees this as dangerous and also disrespectful to the clan Tremere. Ban and Max almost come to physical blows over this.
  • Max finds what looks like a wooden playing card with the Tremere symbol on one side and another symbol seen in Cerrano's home. Max snaps the card and black "smoke" leaves the card and it goes up into the air.
  • Ban collapses at this time and the old vampire  awakens. The old vampire only speaks Italian and Jarvis  uses his Spanish to communicate the best he can. 
  • The vampire says his name is Enzo Dante.
  • The players have awoken a seemingly old vampire from some sort of slumber and have no idea his intentions. Ban is  placed in the coffin as the players try and figure out what their next steps will be.
  • Ban appears to have fallen under a spell of some sort and cannot wake up. What will the players do? Who is this old Italian Vampire? What was he doing in this mine? Who put him here? Can he help? Or is he a threat?




CHAPTER 24: Strangers in a Strange LAnd

Chapter 24: Strangers in a Strange Land

(Game Session Jane 12 2024) (Game Date is Jan 3 1871). 

  • *Eli (Possible City Gangrel) and Jason (Possible Ravnos) were told to start thinking about making new characters*
  • Max, Jarvis and Valmont speak with Enzo Dante inside the silver mine. Jarvis translates best he can (Italian).
  • Valmont feels the bag of holding vibrating and notes that the pouch with stones are glowing. Enzo takes one of the stones and swallows it. Enzo is then is able to communicate in English with the players. Enzo states that the stones are Tremere relics called Babbling Stones that allow the user to understand and speak any language for 6 months. The players also swallow stones.
  • Ban is placed in the bag of holding as he is under some sort of spell. Enzo does not know why Ban is  unresponsive but tells the players the last thing he remembers is going to sleep in Milan Italy in 1655.
  • Enzo says that he believes its Hermetic magic that trapped him and not Tremere magic.
  • The players and Enzo ride back to town and the players explain that Enzo is in the "New World", America, and in a small town called "Carson City." They explain that the only vampire they have met in the town is Amelia Crimson, who runs the Mooney Hotel and Bar
  • The players decide to feed for one hour and meet at Mooneys after. When the players return an hour later, they hear a gun shot from the hotel and enter to find a man dead on the ground. Another large cowboy is standing over him. To the players surprise, Enzo is sitting down at the table next to the cowboy and seems quite at home. Enzo has dominated 4 men and they are serving him as body guards.
  • Ban, Max, Jarvis, Amelia Crimson and Enzo sit down at the table and discuss that it would be mutually beneficial to start a "psuedo Primogen" to protect the town and their power. Ameilia states that Gold was discover just outside of Carson and a large Gold Rush will likely bring in thousands of new people. With those people come Kindred so having a Primogen in place will help the players cement their power.
  • Both Amelia Crimson and Enzo Dante are old, enigmatic figures that are from Europe. The players speculate that they are both hundreds of years old and discover that the Wild West offers some incredible opportunities. If the players are stranded here, they must make the best of it and what better way than to start their own vampire Primogen.
  • But...the wild West was a savage place where law and order often did not exist. Time will tell what happens in this new time...

CHAPTER 25: Who Hunts the hunters?

Chapter 25: Who Hunts the Hunters?

(Game Session Jane 19  2024) (Game Date is Jan 11 1871). 

  • The PCs spend the next week working contacts within Carson. Max is able to use his ghoul Lester to find an old church to house the "Primogen Elysium".  Max is able to pay for the land and title but needs to come up with 900$ to pay for the building. 
  • They wake up the next day to hear everyone in town talking about finding gold outside of Carson. A new Gold Rush is on its way!
  • Max discusses with Valmont and  that they need to earn some more money to buy the property. The group agrees that renovations also need to be done on the church (secret rooms etc).
  • The group makes a trip to the silver mind and pulls out about 5 lbs of silver. Valmont gambles but breaks even. Amelia is willing to front half for the building.
  • The PCs then decide that they want to go across the street to the other bar and hotel (a run down place) to see if it's for sale. The players find out that a guy named Mr Smith owns it. During their visit, a young cocky cowboy insults Jarvis and the two face off in the street for a shoot out. 
  • There is an ugly cowboy who is with the young cowboy and Max sees that this cowboy has a shotgun and looks ready to unload on Jarvis.
  • Javis wins the shootout, killing the young cowboy and Max sees the ugly cowboy make a move toward Jarvis. Max breaks the ugly cowboys wrist and punches him 10 feet into the air. 
  • The ugly cowboy is carried away and Mr Smith taps Max on the shoulder praising him for his work. Mr Smith invites the PCs back into his bar and they share a drink. The PCS ask if the bar is for sale and Mr Smith says "No-with the gold rush coming...this place will be worth 100 times its worth in the next year!"
  • Max get's worried about Lester and runs over to his home to find his wife murdered and Lester gone. A note is left for the PCs to come to the old cemetery outside of town. 
  • Jarvis, Max and Valmont head out to confront the kidnapper and find a large bonfire in the centre of the cemetery.  Each one splits up and sneaks into the area. Max sees a very menacing vampire with scars all over his face and rushes him. 
  • Valmont gets off 4 shots on "Scar Face" and Max hits his enemy with a vicious claw attack, causing 16 pts of aggravated damage-KILLING Scar Face almost instantly.
  • Valmont botches his Aspex and cannot use it for the rest of the night.
  • However, Max nor the others are able to get any information where Lester might be as they killed their only known lead.
  • The players ride back into town and discuss trying to find the ugly cowboy as they think he may have had something to do with Lester disappearing.
  • The players are approached by a regal looking cowboy in his late 50s with a spectacular moustache who says his name is Darcy "Ticker" Lafayette.
  • Ticker is a deep voiced and wise kindred who gives the players a massive revelation in regard to the time travelling and the mirror they used.
  • He specifically says that Cerrano has used the mirror many times and has lived many lives and is far older that the 400 years they thought he was. Ticker speculates that Cerrano has travelled back in time to make him at least 2000 years old! But the players using the mirror has likely prevented Cerrano from using it again (and the mirror is currently in China Town).
  • The players speculate that drinking from Cerrano's cup has allowed them to use HIS mirror.
  • A massive discussion over time travel happens. They players are not sure if they want to remain in this time and live out their 170 years to reach 2024 again, travel to San Fran to destroy the mirror or use the mirror to go back to 2024.
  • Max and Valmont have opposing views on who to trust in this time....

CHAPTER 26: Circle the Wagons

Chapter 26: Circle the Wagons

(Game Session Feb 16  2024) (Game Date is Jan 20 1871). 

  • The PCs spends some time in the Moony Saloon and here more talk about the gold rush in Carson city. The PCS speak with a table of miners and decide to bank roll their mining expedition. The Players need to come up with $500 to by the equipment for the miners and they will split 50/50
  • While speaking to the miners, Valmont overhears two Mexican banditos talking about a "chest" that they came in possession of. They say that its 'water logged and soaked" however.
  • Max and Valmont both  use their presence to Awe and Entranced  the two (Miguel and Jose). Max convinces Miguel to show him the chest. Max picks the lock and discovers a soaked Union Army overcoat and hat (both moldy), an old revolver, bible and 4 scrolls. Max takes the scrolls and dries them out in his room.
  • Valmont gambles for a couple hours and earns dots in GAMBLING. Max spends his EXP to earn SUBTERFUGE.
  • The PCS unravel the scrolls about 5 hours later when they are dry and note that 2 of the 4 still have readable print on them. One mentions that there is a stash of confederate gold and silver ($50 000 worth)  in Dayton NV. The other scroll shows a map of the town. There is a pictograph on the scroll that Valmont things could be the tailors building.
  • Max, Valmont, Jarvis and Miguel and Jose ride to Dayton, which is about 3 hours away from Carson. They take a wagon and a few horses. They learn that Dayton was a boom town but has been abandoned for 12 years (since 1859 when the gold ran out).
  • The PCs ride into town and note old run down buildings. The town is deserted. After riding around town and taking note of the different buildings (all 21 of them), they head to the tailors shop when they uncover a buried chest. Its very heavy. When they open it (its trapped) but Max is able to disarm it), they find that it is filled with rail spikes and not gold. 
  • Valmont uses his psychometry to find out that someone replaced the gold with rail spikes. Valmont sees the church in his vision and the group believes that the gold was moved there.
  • While the players are investigating the Church (which they find is COMPLETELY boarded up), Miguel alerts the group to 3 men who appear from the Undertakers house at the end of town. 
  • One of the men appears to remove a body from the Carpenter building and slings it over his shoulder and walks back to the undertakers building. The other figure goes to the outhouse and exits with a 10 year old girl screaming under his arm. He too retreats to the Undertakers.
  • The players investigate the out house and discover that its a pit where it appears live humans are kept as a "herd". The carpenter shop has 4 dead bodies hanging on hooks. They are in various states of decay. 
  • Max is unable to stop himself and must follow his urge for "vengeance" (one of his flaws). Max had his wife and daughter killed by criminals and that triggers his need to exact revenge. Max decides to confront the 3 individuals in the undertakers building.  Valmont and Jarvis back Max up.
  • Max is confronted first by a Mexican Gangel. The little girl is held by another vampire at the door of the undertakers house-he holds a shotgun the little girls head.
  • Max is able to wound the Gangrel with his claws very badly. The Gangrel shape changes to a bat and flies away.
  • Jarvis and Valmont take shots at the kindred holding the girl. Jarvis is able to shoot the vampire in the face (from a hip shot no less). Max rushes in and kills the second vampire and Valmont scoops in and saves the girl.
  •  Max enters the building and sees the third vampire standing at the back entrance with black smoke coming from his hand. Max rushes this vampire, tears his arm off and begins to attempt to diablorize the kindred. However, Max notices that the graveyard in the back of the Undertakers house is filled with about 100 zombies and they start to move to attack Max. 
  • Out numbered, Max, Jarvis and Valmont retreat back to the Church. They tell Miguel and Jose to take the wagon and flee and come back later. The Players break open the church and bar the doors. When inside, they notice it is well fortified with guns, supplies, wood etc. The little girl is places on the ground inside the church and Valmont goes up to the bell tower and notes that the zombies are surrounding the church. 
  • While taking stock of their supplies, the PCS find $50 000 of gold and silver coins stashed in the fire place.
  • Now with a huge treasure under their control, The PCS will have to survive the siege of the church by the zombies. 
  • Can they do it? What will happen next?

CHAPTER 27: THE SIEGE

Chapter 27: The Siege

(Game Session March 8 2024) (Game Date is Jan 22 1871). 

  • The players find themselves trapped in the church and begin to fortify it best they can. Valmont and Jarvis position themselves in the bell tower with 4 rifles and dozens of rounds of ammo. They begin to use the zombies as target practice as the shambling hoard closes in. 
  • They discover that the heads of the zombies  need to be completely destroyed in order to kill them ( a simple bullet to the brain doesn't work)
  • Max investigates the crawl space under the church and finds a pile of old bones and clothes as well as a small door that leads outside.
  • Valmont has a couple of botches and two rifles get destroyed in the process. The players decide they need a new plan so they decide to have Max jump from the roof and make his way to the general store to see if he can find some kerosine. The plan is to lure the zombies into the lower part of the church and then set it on fire. A risky plan to say the least. 
  • Max uses his celerity to run from the church to the back side of the general store. While in the store, he grabs an old lantern and places it in a saddle bag. About 10 zombies chase after him. Just as he is about the leave the store, he hears someone yelling "help" from the sheriff's office, two buildings down from him.
  • Max decids to investigate the yelling and discovers that there is a "hidden room" in the sheriff's office. Max breaks down the wall to find a 6'7'' big cowboy trapped in the room. The walls are lined with silver and lupine wards. Max has 'rescued' a werewolf!-in human form mind you.
  • The  lupine introduces himself as Arlo and before they can exchange any more information, 6 zombies are standing at the entrance of the sheriffs office. Both Max and Arlo attack,  killing 3 zombies with their bare hands. 
  • Max uses his claws and rips the zombies heads from their bodies while Arlo bear hugs 3 zombies and shakes them so violently that he shatters all their bones and leaves them as a pile of goo. Max is impressed by Arlo.
  • Six more zombies are heading toward Max and Arlo but they decide to run straight into the hoard, destroying them in a spectacular fashion. Max and Arlo then run back to the church, jump up onto the roof and reunite with Valmont and Jarvis.
  • While in the bell tower, Valmont notices glowing eyes from one of the buildings and the players speculate that it is the Gangrel that was injured by Max earlier on. Valmont also sees light (torches) on the horizon coming toward the group. Who could it be?
  • The group discovers that Miguel and Jose have returned and are waving torches and yelling to distract the zombies. The two Mexicans have RETURNED to help rescue the players. The blood bonding and presence used by Max has kept them loyal!
  • Max  grabs the little girl from downstairs and passes her to Valmont in the Bell Tower. Max then unlatches the doors of the church and the zombies rush in. Max then runs up the ladder, and tosses the kerosine on the zombies. The church catches fire.
  • Miguel and Jose pull the wagon next to the church and the group jumps on it and they take off South toward Carson City.
  • The glow of the fire illuminates the horizon. The  players are 50 000 dollars richer. On the way back, they speak with Arlo who admits that he thought all vampires (he calls them WYRM) were the same. He tells Max that he over heard the 3 vampires (who took him prisoner) refer to themselves as "Sabbat': Max explains that there are different groups of kindred and  that they too are against the Sabbat.
  • The group makes it back to Carson and they put Arlo up in the hotel. Amelia states she hasn't seen Enzo in a week and the town is getting busier.
  • The group then decides it's time to wake Vangard so they head out to their secret silver mine and each pour 3 points of blood into a chalice and feed red it to him. Vangard awakens and quietly listens to the players. They inform him generally what has occurred and HOPE to enlist his help back in this time period.
  • As the group enters Carson City, they  are not sure about their plan waking Vangard up. Have they awoken a sleeping giant with terrible resolve? Time will tell...


CHAPTER 28: The Hunters Hunted

Chapter 28: The Hunters Hunted

(Game Session March 15 2024) (Game Date is Feb 1 1871). 

  • Now that the players have awoken Vangard, thus adding a very powerful kindred to the current timeline, what consequences await?
  • The players wake up and hear chattering outside. Max and Jarvis walk down the street to see that a fire has engulfed several tents and that two prospectors died in the fire. Valmont eventually joins the others. The fire almost catches the hardware store on fire but the towns folk put it out. 
  • there is an influx of about 1000 new people in Carson City. The gold rush has officially arrived. 
  • the players head to the undertaker to investigate the bodies. Once there, they use their presence to get the undertaker to let them look at the burnt bodies. They discover that one of the bodies is just ash and it appears it was a vampire!
  • They report this back to Amelia and whilst chatting, one of here entranced lackies comes into the bar with a found suitcase. He is very excited about it and hands it over to Amelia. She opens it and shows the players. It’s a very well put together vampire hunter kit! Max sees the crosses and immediately is repelled away. 
  • Players visit Mr Smith‘s establishment and decide to try and speak with him. Valmont sits down for a game of poker. Max chats casually with Mr Smith. Arlo storms into the bar and is super drunk. He lasts 2 hands before passing out. 
  • MAX encounters the ugly cowboy and takes him back to the Elysium to kill. 
  • Enzo returns 
  • two Chinese men seem to watch people walking down the street
  • Max doesn't kill the ugly cowboy but entrances him.
  • German shows up at the hotel, Valmont speaks with him. Could this be a vampire hunter as well.
  • There is a murder in the street and the players investigate. They also see someone on the rooftop. Max runs around the building and jumps on the roof.. the body of one of the Chinese falls off the building.
  • Vanguard appears and it looks like he killed the Chinese vampire hunter.
  • Who was the man killed in the street though?



CHAPTER 29: ATTACK FROM ALL SIDES

CHAPTER 29: ATTACK FROM ALL SIDES

(Game Session April 12 2024) (Game Date is Feb 12 1871). 

  • Julia the gangrel is first met. Cowgirl. Silver ankh
  • Dead guy was a square head
  • talked about making new ghouls: stagecoach, telegraph
  • wanted info on Inquisition
  • Spanish couple seen  walking into Mr Smiths bar (The Miner)
  • Isla the little girl was taken
  • She was was feeling safe
  • Mr Smith barged in and was super impatient
  • Enzo appears at the hotel
  • Wagon with rotting flesh outside Elysium
  • The party is attacked near their Elysium buy 25 Mohave natives in an incredibly vicious battle.
  • Amelia, Enzo and Vanguard join in the fight.
  • Enzo uses lightening strike to kill several warriors. Amelia is very fast (high level of celerity).

CHAPTER 30: RETURN OF BAN STRAHD

(Game Session  May 10 2024) (Game Date is Feb 12 1871). 

  • Max, Valmont and Jarvis decide to head into the  Elysium to speak with Amelia, Dante and Vangard. 
  • Ban walks up inside the portal and is fed blood from Max and Valmont and bring him back from his torpor
  • The players discuss that forming a Primogen will help everyone involved.
  • The Inquisition threat is discussed and the players decide that they need to deal with it.
  • Max, Valmont and Ban agree to ghoul and dominate many towns fold in order to control the important industries in Carson


CHAPTER 31: Ecstasy of gold: End of Part 4

CHAPTER 31: The Ecstasy of Gold

(Game Session  May 31 2024) (Game Date is Feb 26 1871). 


In this session, Part 4 came to a dramatic end for the players. They had been working hard to solidify their power base in Carson City by manipulating mortal affairs. The players had managed to control several key busniesses in Carson including  the bank, the telegraph, the land title office while also finishing the construction on their Primogen building (Vault) and started the construction of the new Elysium.


The players learnt that Julia the Gangrel was happy to remain independent within the city and had no desire to sit on the Primogen. Vanguard too expressed that he would be leaving Carson as he had long lost his “lust for mortal and kindred” politics. 


Arlo reported back that the gold claim had been very successful and that within a week, the first delivery of ore would be made. Arlo estimated that the claim would be worth about $500 000 (or 25 Million in 2024) and would take several years to realize its full potential.


Max, Valmont and Jarivs are hanging out in Amelia’s hotel when they learn that a new stage coach has arrived in the city. They go to investigate and note that a beautiful red headed women (Kayleen Easter) and her son (Joshua) have arrived from back East. Kayleen has several trunks with her and it looks like she is “moving in.” The players introduce themselves and invite Kayleen to Mooney's Bar and Brothel (Amelia’s place)  once she is settled in. Valmont uses his Auspex and notes that she is a kindred. The boy, Joshua, appears as an 11 year old blonde child but ends up giving the players a look that they understand as “threatening”. They surmise that Joshua may be kindred as well.


As the players head back to Mooney's,, they note that one of the males who was travelling in the stage  coach with Kayleen and Joshua, was dead. The coach rider says “he was sick. Must have died from consumption.” The players are all to familiar with this type of coverup and figure out that either or both Kayleen and Joshua must have killed the man during the trip to Carson. 


Kayleen visits the players and Amelia and they chat. Max reveals that they know she is kindred and then he states that he and the others have been in Carson for some time, seeking their fortune in gold. Kayleen listens and gleans a lot of information from Max- who continues to talk. Eventually the chat focuses on Carson and that it has a Primogen and prince and that they are trying to rid the town of the unseen Inquisition. Kayleen states that she has the ability to help the Primogen rid the city of the Inquisitin as she has a detailed past doing so. 

Kayleen states that if she rids the city of the inquisition threat, that she wants to sit on the Primogen as well. The players state that they will discuss with the prince and other members.


The players meet at the Vault (the Primogen headquarters) and decide to add Ban to their council and also elect Enzo Dante as the “figure head Prince”. They agree that if Kayleen fulfils her part of the bargain , they will bring her on.


CHAPTER 31: CONT

CHAPTER 31: The Ecstasy of Gold CONT

(Game Session  May 31 2024) (Game Date is Feb 26 1871). 


Max, Valmont and Jarivis return to Kayleen and tell her that if she completes her task, they will bring her on the Primogen. As part of the stipulation, the players ask that she will need to reveal her clan. They suspect Ventrue.


A week goes by and Arlo comes back into town with 5 large chests full of gold ore with $50 000. The players decide to keep some gold in the vault (under the Primogen HQ), some in the Carson Bank and the rest in their protected Silver mine. As they are unloading, one of Amelia’s child servants knocks on the door and says “Miss Amelia wants to speak with you right away!”


The players head over to Amelia’s brothel and see her standing in front of it, looking pensive. She says that “we have a problem over at the Miner (Mr Smith’s establishment).” They head over to the Miner and discover Mr. Smith dead in the back room. He has been diabolized. 


The players find Mr Smith Dead on the ground and Valmont uses his psychometry on a personal mirror to read ths last images before Smith’s death. Valmont gets an outstanding reading and finds out that Smith is a Nosferatu and sees little Joshua attack and kill him. Valmont also is shocked to discover that Joshua is actually FABIAN BULLARD. At that moment Kayleen arrives.


Kayleen states that she uncovered the “inquisition plot” and explains her findings.


Smith orchestrated the whole Inquisition plot in an attempt to keep the other kindred in the city shut in an scared. He did not like how the town was changing so fast and certainly did not like the players coming in to mix things up. While Smith was a physically weak kindred, he thought he could conjure up a threat like vampire hunters to buy him time to build his power base. 


Kayleen reports that Smith hired some Chinese workers to set fire to a tent that a kindred was staying in order to eliminate him. This unfortunately almost caught the hardware store on fire. Next, Smith planted a “vampire hunter kit” to make it seem like they were in town. Smith then used a German tourist as a plant to seem like more “hunters were on their way.” In fact, the German tourist was just that-a tourist-who had nothing to do with vampires or hunting them.

 

Smith then decided that his slow play wasn’t scaring the other kindred so he hired 20 native warriors to attack them outright. Again, Smith underestimated the power of Max, Valmont, Julia, Amelia and the powerful Enzo and Vangard. The warriors were dispatched easily (almost that is).


CHAPTER 31: CONT

CHAPTER 31: The Ecstasy of Gold CONT

(Game Session  May 31 2024) (Game Date is Feb 26 1871). 


Kayleen then informs the characters that after she uncovered Smith as the main antagonist of the Inquisition rouse, she spoke with Joshua. But Joshua held a particularly dark secret. He was a diabolist who met Kayleen in New York City. Kayleen had faithfully served the Sabbat for over 60 years and then they seemingly discarded her when the Camarilla set their sights on her. One evening, 4 members of a hunter team of Camarilla tracked Kayleen down near her haven and attempted to kill her. Joshua (Bullard) was part of that team. However, just as they were about to strike, Joshua turned on the other 3 members and killed them-diabolorzing them all. 


Kayleen from that moment forward, owed Joshua a life boon. As part of the boon, Kayleen stipulated that the boon would only last until Joshua diabolorized  5 kindred. She was bound to “help” and also turn a blind eye to the depravity of Joshua’s tastes.


Kayleen left the Sabbat and turned anti-tribu and the two travelled from NY to Philadelphia and then made their way west. Smith was the 5th kindred and as such, Kayleen’s service to Joshua was complete.


The players then surmise that Bullard, sometime in the future, found the gold that the players obtained and somehow stole it from them-thus sparking the events of Valmont loosing his fortune, then the heist on Bullard’s haven in Oakland and the bad blood between the characters and the . (Time travel can be confusing after all). 

Kayleen, having fulfilled her part of the bargain, becomes part of the Carson City Primogen and the players find out that she is a Lasombra. The Primogen solidifies their power in the Nevada Town.


For the next 24 years, the players rule the city quietly and become comfortable in their roles as Primogen members. That is until a cold January evening in 1895….
